The Kite Runner: Ch.8
It’s true that karma really does come around. Before when Amir does absolutely nothing, except stare cowardly, while Hassan was getting rapped karma now comes back around to him---guilt. In this chapter you really see how guilty he really feels about not speaking up, and is constantly punishing himself for it. He can’t sleep at night, he can’t even hold out a decent conversation with Hassan. This eventually leads to the two boys avoiding each other completely. I mean I realize that Amir is feeling guilty for what he did…or rather didn’t do but instead of talking to Hassan and working things out he chooses to stop talking to Hassan completely. Last time I checked, that wasn’t the best way to resolve ANYTHING.
